Push Janelle Bynum to take a stronger stance against ICE
Indivisible groups throughout ORD5 have united to push Rep. Bynum to take a stronger stance against ICE.
Beginning the week of 8/17, please call Rep. Bynum three times--each time asking for her to co-sponsor HR 9270, a bill sponsored by Oregon Rep. Maxine Dexter that would protect the due process rights of unaccompanied immigrant children from violation by federal immigration agents. Please also post about the bill on social media.
Then, the following week (8/24), we will ask you to email Rep. Bynum with the same asks three times.
Finally, the week of 8/31, we will ask you to send a postcard asking for her to co-sponsor the bill.
Here are scripts for making your calls and writing your emails, postcards, and your posts on social media.

Tell our Senators: End Trump's reckless Iran war
Tell our Senators to reject the Trump-Netanyahu military partnership
Every year, Congress passes the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a massive defense bill considered a “must-pass” piece of legislation. Because it moves every year, lawmakers frequently try to slip in other policies that could not pass on their own. And unfortunately, even under Trump, many Democrats annually rubber-stamp this bill.
Trump and Netanyahu have worked closely over the past year and a half, partnering to commit devastating war crimes across the Middle East. Now, Congress is being asked to cement even deeper military cooperation and coordination with the Israeli government into US law.
At a time when the Israeli government continues its genocide in Gaza and military escalations across the region with the political and financial backing of our own government, Congress should not be making military integration with Israel a permanent feature of US defense policy or locking future administrations into even closer cooperation.
This year’s NDAA would expand military cooperation between the United States and Israel through joint weapons development, intelligence sharing, defense technology partnerships, and other forms of military coordination, all while reducing transparency and public oversight.

Trump’s unauthorized, unprovoked war in Iran has already cost the lives of US service members and thousands of civilians in Iran and across the Middle East. Even after a 60-day agreement was announced, Trump bombed Iran anyway, making clear that neither he nor the Israeli government can be trusted to keep their word on a ceasefire.
Both the House and Senate have now passed War Powers Resolutions challenging Trump’s unauthorized military actions against Iran and reasserting Congress’s constitutional authority over matters of war. But these votes are not enough. We call on Members of Congress to hold the line for not another dime. A vote for the Trump-Hegseth weapons budget, a supplemental request for funding, or any other additional funding for war is unacceptable.
